Nook: A Blogging Tool?

Aside December 5, 2012 Mike Leave a comment

I am writing his on my new Nook Simple Touch with Glowlight ereader. Yes, it is rooted, and yes, I am still getting used to the keyboard. Essentially this post is an exercise for myself to a) learn to type with a touchscreen keyboard (I have a QWERTY phone) and b) to determine if this is a viable blogging option. If I had to guess, I would say I could have written this post 4 times faster and with that amount fewer mistakes using a physical keyboard on a computer. Still I am really happy with the device’s capability thus far. Continue reading Nook: A Blogging Tool? →

Adding a Hyper-V host to a VMM Server

Aside March 26, 2013 Mike Leave a comment

For VMM to be useful, you need to add servers to a host group for management. The easiest method, involves adding servers in a trusted domain using a ‘Run As’ account different from the account you use to log in to VMM. Accessing American Media Streaming Services Abroad

Aside October 1, 2012 Mike Leave a comment

Were not totally out of luck though – there are several ways to circumvent this issue.

Please note that I am not entirely sure the legality of doing this, so please consider the information as theoretical only. Continue reading Accessing American Media Streaming Services Abroad →

Aside January 8, 2013 Mike Leave a comment

The main issue I have with Visual Studio is the lack of intuition it possesses when creating simple command line programs.

First to create a new console application:

File > New > Project >Visual C++ > Win32 > Console Application

YOUR CODE HERE!

Here is where things get annoying: Continue reading Introduction to command line programming in C++ using Visual Studio 2012 →

New Server – VPS

Aside September 25, 2012 Mike Leave a comment

Today, I moved the blog to my new VPS. I decided last week to take the plunge – a hard decision as I have never owned (rented?) a VPS before and I wasn’t really sure what to get. It came down to price for me; to get the best ‘value’ for my money. Looking at the $12-20 per year market, on average, gave around 128MB RAM (256 burstable), ~10-20GB disk space, and 10-100MB metered connections. Continue reading New Server – VPS →
